Aircon Error Codes Singapore: Daikin, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Midea & LG Guide

Updated July 2026 · By Singapore Aircond Service Centre

When your aircon stops and flashes a code, that code tells you exactly where to look — if you know how to read it. This reference covers the most common error codes for the five biggest aircon brands in Singapore. Bookmark it: it can save you a wasted service call, or tell you when a problem genuinely needs a technician.

Before You Do Anything: The 5-Minute Reset

Many error codes are one-off glitches. Before booking a repair: switch the unit off at the remote, then turn off the power at the breaker or isolator for 5 minutes, and restart. If the code returns, use the tables below.

Three Rules That Save You Money

  1. Codes about drainage (A3, P5) — stop using the unit; continued running can flood your wall. This is usually a quick, inexpensive fix.
  2. Codes about refrigerant (U0, F91, EC, CH38) — insist on a leak check before any gas top-up. Gas does not run out on its own.
  3. Communication faults (U4, E6, H11, E1, CH05) — often cleared by a power reset. If it returns within days, wiring or a control board needs attention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep using the aircon when an error code shows?

For drainage codes, no — you risk water damage. For most other codes the unit protects itself by stopping. Do the 5-minute power reset once; if the code returns, book a diagnosis.

How much does it cost to fix an error code?

It depends on the cause: drainage clearing and sensor swaps are inexpensive, while PCB or compressor faults cost more. We diagnose on site and quote before any work begins.

Why does my error code keep coming back after reset?

A recurring code means a real hardware fault, not a glitch — most commonly dirty coils, a choked drain, a failing sensor or low refrigerant. Repeated resets only delay the fix.

Chemical Wash vs Chemical Overhaul vs General Servicing: Which Does Your Aircon Need?

Updated July 2026 · By Singapore Aircond Service Centre

“Do I need a chemical wash, or is normal servicing enough?” It is the question we hear most often — and getting it wrong wastes money in both directions. Pay for a chemical wash you don’t need and you overspend; skip one you do need and your aircon keeps struggling no matter how often it is “serviced”. Here is how the three services actually differ.

The 3 Services Compared

General Servicing Chemical Wash Chemical Overhaul
What is done Filters, cover and coil surface cleaned; drainage flushed; condenser checked Fan coil cleaned with chemical solution to dissolve dirt inside the fins; drainage treated Unit fully dismantled — coil, blower wheel, drain tray chemically cleaned out of the wall
Duration 20–30 min/unit 45–60 min/unit 1.5–2 hours/unit
Typical price From S$40 From S$140 S$120–S$200 (market)
Fixes Dust build-up, mild smell, routine upkeep Weak cooling, musty smell, minor leaking Persistent leaking, mould, years of neglect, pre-handover deep clean
How often Every 3–4 months Every 6–12 months if symptoms appear Every 2–3 years for older units

Which One Does Your Aircon Need? Symptom Checklist

Symptom Most Likely Fix
Aircon works fine, just routine upkeep General servicing
Cooling feels weaker than before Chemical wash (or gas top-up — we check both)
Musty / sour smell when switching on Chemical wash
Water dripping from indoor unit Chemical wash; overhaul if it keeps returning
Black spots (mould) visible at the vent Chemical overhaul
Not serviced for 2+ years Chemical overhaul, then quarterly general servicing
Ice forming on pipes or coil Diagnosis needed — see our guide on aircon freezing causes

Why a Chemical Wash Is Not Always the Answer

Some companies recommend a chemical wash at every visit — that is oversell. A unit that gets proper general servicing every 3–4 months rarely needs more than one chemical treatment a year. Conversely, if your unit is leaking again within weeks of a chemical wash, the problem is usually deeper (choked drainage piping or a coil that needs dismantling) and repeating the same wash will not fix it — that is when an overhaul makes sense.

The Honest Decision Rule We Use

  1. If the unit cools well and has no smell → general servicing, keep the schedule.
  2. If cooling is weak or there is odour/light dripping → chemical wash, then reassess.
  3. If symptoms persist after a wash, mould is visible, or the unit has been neglected for years → chemical overhaul once, then maintain with general servicing.

Our technicians will show you the actual condition of your coil and blower before recommending anything — you decide with the evidence in front of you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a chemical wash bad for the aircon?

Done properly with the correct solution and thorough rinsing, no. Poorly done washes with harsh acid and no rinse can corrode fins over time — one reason to choose an experienced company.

How long do chemical wash results last?

Typically 6–12 months depending on usage and environment. Pairing it with quarterly general servicing extends the effect considerably.

Can I just do chemical overhaul every time instead?

You can, but it is unnecessary spending. Overhaul is a reset for badly soiled units — after that, regular servicing keeps the unit clean at a fraction of the cost.

Aircon Servicing Price Guide Singapore (2026): Real Rates & How to Avoid Overpaying

Updated July 2026 · By Singapore Aircond Service Centre (23+ years of servicing experience)

How much should you really pay for aircon servicing in Singapore? Prices vary widely between companies, and the cheapest quote is not always the best value. This guide breaks down the actual market rates in 2026, what each service includes, and how to avoid the common pricing traps.

Aircon Servicing Price List Singapore (2026)

Service Market Rate (per unit) Our Price Recommended Frequency
General Servicing S$30 – S$65 From S$40 (multi-unit discount) Every 3–4 months
Chemical Wash S$80 – S$150 From S$140 Every 6–12 months if needed
Chemical Overhaul S$120 – S$200 Ask for quote Every 2–3 years for older units
Gas Top-Up (R32/R410A) S$40 – S$130 From S$40 Only when low — with leak check
Repair / Troubleshooting S$50 – S$300+ Free quote after diagnosis When faulty
Installation (system 3, HDB) S$2,800 – S$4,500 Free quote Every 10–15 years
Yearly Maintenance Contract S$180 – S$400/unit/yr Ask for package price Best value for 3+ units

What Affects the Price?

  • Number of units — servicing 3–4 units in one visit is significantly cheaper per unit than one-off visits.
  • Unit type — ceiling cassette and ducted units cost more than wall-mounted units because dismantling takes longer.
  • Condition — a unit that has skipped servicing for years may need a chemical wash instead of a general service.
  • Accessibility — high-floor condenser units or units above stairwells may involve extra charges.
  • Refrigerant type — R22 (older units) is being phased out and costs more to top up than R32/R410A.

How to Avoid Overpaying: 5 Red Flags

  1. “$20 servicing” ads — usually a teaser; the technician upsells a chemical wash on site. Confirm the full price in writing first.
  2. Gas top-up without leak check — refrigerant does not get “used up”. If your gas is low, there is a leak. Topping up without finding it means paying again in 3 months.
  3. Chemical wash pushed on every visit — a well-maintained unit needs it at most once a year, not quarterly.
  4. No breakdown of work done — a proper general service includes filters, evaporator coil, blower, drainage flush and condenser check. Ask what is covered.
  5. Cash-only, no receipt — you lose all recourse if the aircon fails a week later. Choose a registered company (check the UEN on ACRA Bizfile).

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does aircon servicing cost in Singapore in 2026?

General servicing costs S$30–S$65 per unit at market rate. At Singapore Aircond Service Centre it starts from S$40 per unit, with discounts when servicing multiple units in one visit.

Is a maintenance contract worth it?

If you have 3 or more units, a yearly contract typically saves 15–25% versus ad-hoc bookings and keeps servicing on schedule so small problems never become expensive repairs.

Why do some companies charge so much less?

Very low headline prices usually mean rushed 15-minute jobs or on-site upselling. Judge by what is included, the company’s track record and reviews — not the headline number alone.
